Most Beautiful People Awards

Our Rev. Lisa was honored on Thursday, October 8 at Harford's Most Beautiful People annual ceremony. She was introduced by Kristy Breslin of WJZ and was then presented with her certificate by Amber Shrodes and Barry Glassman. Thirty people were recognized during the evening for their selfless contribution to our local communities and for enriching many lives.

Rev. Lisa was specifically recognized for raising awareness on the issue of race and law enforcement in our county. It was mentioned that, she has worked diligently to open and maintain a community dialog on what could be a difficult and contentious subject. She listens patiently and she accurately reflects the thoughts expressed by others, seeking common ground and ways to positively address these concerns…. She was also recognized for her work in LGBT legislation and domestic violence awareness.

A new Shining Light award was presented to three couples who have been public with their support of awareness of heroin addiction. The Gallion, Landbeck and McLaughlin families have all lost a child to the drug but rather that hide, they've told their stories with the hope that other families won't suffer as they have.

The person chosen as this year's Most Beautiful Person is Grace Callwood. She is a 5th grade student and has shown her commitment to serve and help others in many ways. While in treatment for Stage IV Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma at age 7, she received so many toys that she donated them to Harford Family House. From there, she founded We Cancerve Movement to help enrich the lives of sick, foster and homeless children and create giving opportunities in the community. She has established an accumulator fund with the Community Foundation of Harford County to support her efforts. She has worked with her church, Arrow Family Ministries, Harford Family House, UM Upper Chesapeake Pediatric Hospital, the Girl Scouts, and the Harford County Public Library. Grace is an amazing young woman who inspires those around her.
